Freedom.

Rev. Freedom H. Weekes is a preacher, author, and builder whose work challenges a new generation to encounter truth, examine what they believe, and discover purpose.

For more than sixteen years, Freedom has preached, taught, built ministries, developed leaders, produced media, and created spaces where faith and serious thought are not treated as opposites. As founder of Freedom Global, he now brings those worlds together around a singular mission: Equipping a Generation with Truth and Purpose.

Born and raised in New Rochelle, New York, Freedom knew from childhood that his life would be given to ministry. He grew up seeing himself preaching and teaching long before he fully understood what that calling would require.

His formation was anything but one-dimensional. Freedom grew up within the Black Church, experiencing COGIC, Baptist, and A.M.E. Zion traditions. His mother intentionally cultivated a Christian faith rooted in Black cultural consciousness, while his father, an avid follower of the Nation of Islam, engaged him in theological conversations from childhood. Those conversations taught Freedom to examine not only what he believed, but why he believed it.

At the same time, Freedom was developing as a communicator. He grew up singing and performing in musical theatre and discovered videography in the fifth grade. That early fascination became a professional discipline, eventually leading him to earn a B.S. in Media Studies with a concentration in Radio and Television Production from Mercy University and work professionally in video production and communications.

That assignment began taking shape early.

In 2010, while a student at Mercy University, Freedom founded HELP Ministries — His Everlasting Love Prevails. What began among students grew beyond dorm rooms and classrooms into a recognized campus ministry with weekly Bible studies and prayer meetings, monthly worship gatherings, original music, and ministry beyond the university.

HELP revealed a pattern that would continue throughout Freedom's life: he carries a grace to build.

In 2011, Freedom was licensed as a Local Preacher in the A.M.E. Zion Church. Beginning in 2012, he spent thirteen years serving and developing under Bishop Daryl L. Young at Tabernacle of Prayer Revival Center in Dobbs Ferry, New York. His work there spanned youth and young-adult ministry, media, adjutancy, servant leadership, and leadership development. Within the Faith Outreach Ministry Alliance, Freedom was ordained a minister in 2016 and an Elder in 2023.

But another dimension of his calling was taking shape.

While studying African American History at Mercy University, Freedom's encounter with Ethiopia's ancient Christian history prompted him to investigate more deeply the relationship between Christianity, Africa, and Black identity.

Those questions became urgent while serving as Director of Pastoral Care at The Children's Village in Dobbs Ferry. There, Freedom encountered young people rejecting Christianity because they had been taught that it was the white man's religion—that Jesus was white, Christianity was foreign to Africa, and the Bible belonged primarily to the history of Black oppression.

His research, preaching, and teaching eventually produced Christianity Was Never the White Man's Religion and Before the Colonizers Came: The Hidden Legacy of African Christianity. That work continues through UNcolonized Faith, an initiative committed to recovering overlooked history, confronting distorted narratives, and helping people engage Christianity with greater historical clarity.

Freedom's work is deeply informed by Black history, Black experience, and the Black Church that formed him, but its invitation extends beyond them. His ministry across racial, cultural, and denominational lines has reinforced his conviction that recovering history is not about replacing one distorted narrative with another.

It's about telling the truth more completely.

At the center of that work remains the pulpit.

Freedom's preaching brings Scripture into conversation with history, culture, intellect, emotion, and the work of the Holy Spirit. He rejects the false choice between intellectual depth and spiritual power and believes people should be able to think deeply while experiencing God deeply.

To awaken faith. To provoke thought. To wrestle honestly with Scripture. To encounter the Holy Spirit. To see Jesus more clearly. And to leave with something strong enough to live by.

Today, Freedom is based in Westchester County, New York, where he continues to preach, teach, write, and build. After returning to the A.M.E. Zion Church in 2025, he joined St. Charles A.M.E. Zion Church in Sparkill, New York, under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Dr. Brandon D. McLauchlin.

This season of his work is centered on Freedom Global—the convergence of more than sixteen years of ministry, media, education, publishing, and leadership development.

Through publishing, education, media, and consultation, Freedom is building an ecosystem designed to carry substantive Christian thought into the spaces where emerging generations are learning, questioning, creating, and forming their identities. His work is particularly attentive to Black Gen Z and Gen Alpha while remaining accessible to anyone willing to engage the conversation.

Freedom believes the generations behind him deserve access to truth. He believes questioning people deserve thoughtful answers. He believes the Church can be spiritually alive, historically responsible, intellectually serious, culturally aware, and prepared to speak to the world emerging around it.

As Freedom looks toward the future, he increasingly recognizes an apostolic pattern that has followed him throughout his life: establishing what does not yet exist, pioneering new expressions of ministry, building institutions and movements, and developing leaders capable of carrying the work forward.

The vision is larger than a book, a sermon, or a platform.

It is a generation equipped to know its history without becoming imprisoned by it, engage faith without surrendering intellect, encounter Jesus beyond the distortions surrounding Him, and possess the courage to live with truth and purpose.

That is the work.
And Freedom is still building.
